We are seeking a passionate, dedicated College Advisor to join our growing team at BrightFit Prep. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance to high school students in areas such as college selection, essay writing, extracurricular planning, interview preparation, and application strategies. You’ll be working directly with students to help them find their authentic voice in their applications, discover their best-fit schools, and navigate the entire admissions process with confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 personalized college counseling to high school students (grades 8-12) to guide them through all stages of the college admissions process.

  • Help students identify and apply to colleges that align with their academic goals, career aspirations, and personal values.

  • Offer strategic advice on high school course selection, extracurricular activities, and leadership development.

  • Assist students in brainstorming, drafting, and editing personal statements, supplemental essays, and other application materials.

  • Conduct mock interviews and provide interview coaching.

  • Review and provide feedback on college applications, including application forms, essays, and recommendation letters.

  • Advise on scholarship and financial aid opportunities and assist students with the application process.

  • Maintain clear, organized records for each student’s progress, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Foster a positive, supportive relationship with students and their families to ensure a smooth and successful college application experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s or higher in Education, Counseling, or related field (preferred).

  • Graduate Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA or UCI preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in college admissions counseling, high school advising, or related fields.

  • Strong knowledge of the college admissions process, including both public and private universities.

  • Proven track record of helping students gain acceptance to competitive colleges and universities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coach students in crafting compelling, authentic application materials.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible, remote schedule.

  • High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Passion for helping students discover their potential and supporting them through the college application process.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation college students, students with learning differences, and international students.

  • Familiarity with the Common App, UC applications, and other application platforms.

  • Experience with SAT/ACT prep, college essay workshops, and interview coaching.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rate based on experience ($75-$100 an hour). Additional performance-based bonuses available. Flexible hours with remote work opportunities.
